Let’s throw this great Italian party, hiha!
I have a lot of good friends, but with our busy lives, it’s complicated to see each other often. That’s why we brought in our quarterly dinner parties, so we could see each other together with the kids. This time it was me and Barts turn to cook.
I based this dinner party idea on Italy. A party theme helps me to choose my party decoration and recipes. I always have a problem that I have to many ideas, but if I choose a theme, a lot of it is solved.
Italian party decoration
For my Italian party decoration, I kept it very simple by using basic stuff that I already have in my home, but will give an instant Italian party feeling.
Italian dried pasta
Sprinkling dried pasta over your tablecloth will give your table a finishing touch. It’s also very cheap and decorative in once.
Not only did I sprinkle the pasta, but I put some colorful pasta also in 3 mason jars of different height and used it as a centerpiece on my table.
Italian tower of Pisa
The game “Tower of Pisa”, I used as a centerpiece of the kids table. It’s not only a centerpiece, but also a game that they can play during this Italian dinner party.
Using a checkered tablecloth will give you an instant Italian look and feel for your party. Normally the colors are red an white, but I used what I had on hand.
I gave this party, when it was really hot. So make sure you refrigerate your drinkes beforehand.
Italian Gin Tonic with Limoncello
This Italian Gin Tonic with Limoncello is my aperitif for my Italian party. I mixed a regular Gin Tonic, but I added some limoncello into it.
Always foresee a non-alcoholic beverage for your guests. Most of the times, I make some water with flavor. In this case I put some lemon and mint in my water cannister.
Other Italian beverages
Other beverages that you can serve and have an Italian look and feel, our Italian wine or Italian cava.
Besides that, I served also other chilled drinks that I always have on hand in my fridge, like beer or cola,.
Italian antipasti and bruschetta
I served this Italian antipasti dish with our aperitif. You can use a lot of ingredients to put together this dish, like:
- Artisjoc hearts
- Stuffed paprika
- Sundried tomatoes
Mozarella balls on stick
As extra on my antipasti dish I served some Melon-Mozzarella balls on a stick.

Also I served this Italian antipasti dish with selfmade Parmaham sticks.
This is a kids activity and food as well. I used bought pizza dough that they can decorate with tomato sauce and leftovers from the antipasti dish.
It’s a fun party activity to do.
Italian pasta Arrabiata
My main dish for this Italian party is homemade pasta Arrabiata. This is a spicy tomato sauce with bacon. It’s easily prepared beforehand, like the rest of the dishes.
Italian ice cream
For dessert, we ate Italian ice “Gelato” cream that we decorate with a cookie and a chocolate egg and some sprinkles.
