Mexican homemade Doritos with dip sauces
Home Made Doritos
To make this delicious home made Doritos, you need just a little bit of sea salt and Mexican wraps from the store. Cut the wraps in little triangles put them on a baking sheet, drizzle with a little bit of olive oil and sea salt and put about 10 minutes in a preheated oven of 200°C. You could eat this warm when the guests arrive or you can make this beforehand and eat it chill. Both taste fine with the next home made sauces. Just to make sure, I list the ingredients below:
- Mexican wraps
- Sea salt
- Olive oil
- Baking sheet with parchment line paper
To make a delicious Mexican hot salsa sauce to go with your Mexican homemade Doritos, you will need:
- 1 onion
- 1 paprika
- 3 tablespoons of hot chili ketchup
- A Little bowl (decoration)
- A brench of parsley (decoration)
Cut the onion with the paprika in very little pieces (preferred with a blender) and mix with the ketchup. Is your sauce to thick, use more ketchup. Put this sauce in a nice bowl and finish it of with a little branch of parsley to make it look festive.
The next dip sauce for the homemade Doritos is Guacamole. You will need:
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1 lime
- 1 red pepper
- 0,5 a plant of cilantro (One branch for decoration)
- 1 red onion
- 2 spoons of olive oil
- Some drops of tabasco
- a pinch of salt
- a nice bowl (decoration)
Spoon the flesh out of the avocado and mix it with the other ingredients. Put the sauce in a nice bowl and finish it off with a branch of cilantro. I also used the stone of the avocado to decorate the bowl and it ensures also that the sauce will not turn brown. Make this only the day itself.
Quesadillas are a delicious starter and typically Mexican. I found this variant to have a surprising taste in this dinner. The inspiration came from https://uitpaulineskeuken.nl/2016/06/quesadillas-met-courgette-en-ricotta.html You will need:
- 4 wraps
- 1 zucchini
- 100 gr ricotta
- Grated lemon zest of one lemon
- Olive oil
- Chili powder
- Pepper and salt
- Branches of Minth
- A serving plate (decoration)
Cut the zucchini with a mandoline in thin slices. Make a herbal oil of olive oil, garlic, chili powder, pepper
Flavor the ricotta with the grated lemon zest and pepper and salt and mix. Cut the branches of minth in little pieces.
One side of the wrap you put on the ricotta mixture. Then you put on the grilled zucchini slices and sprinkle some
Mexican Chili con
Chili con carne is a typical Mexican dish , so ideal for this Mexican party as main dish. You will need:
- 3 carrots
- 2 red paprikas
- 800 gr of red beans
- 300 gr of corn
- 800 gr of tomato pieces in a can
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- Sour cream (If you want, to put on top of your chili)
- Cumin powder
- 2 red peppers
- A little bit of orange juice (freshly chopped)
- Chili powder
- Paprika powder
- Cilantro leaves (decoration)
- Taco shells
- Minced chicken
- Cheddar cheese (decoration)
- Green onion (decoration)
Stove the chopped onion, with the copped garlic cloves and the chopped chilli peppers until glazed in a big pot. Then continu to put the chopped paprik and carrots and let it stove for a couple of minutes. In the meanwhile put on another heating to heat the minced chicken. I do this seperatly, because somethimes you will have to much fat and water coming off the meat.
When the meat is ready, pour in the big pot. When the paprika and carrots are a little bit stoved, it’s time to put the cans of tomato pieces in it. If your sauce is to thick you can make it thinner with a pouring a little bit of water into the pot. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes and then it’s time to put in the drained beans and corn and let it simmer for again 10 minutes.
During the simmer time I sprinkle my seasonings on top, until satisfied. At the end I put a little bit of fresh orange juice in my sauce, this gives a nice fresh effect to this dish.
You can make this dish beforehand, so you only need to warm this up when you are ready to eat. I finish of the plate with a little bit of cilantro and a tacoshell. Sprinkle some graded cheddar cheese and some chopped green onion. Hmm, Mexican chilli con carne, so good!
Churros as dessert, it’s not typically Mexican, but eaten a lot. To make this delicious dessert you will need:
- A pinch of salt
- Cinnamon powder
- White sugar
- 2,5 dl of water
- 1dl of sunflower oil
- 200 gr of flower
- 2 eggs
- A pointed pocket (decoration)
Put a pot on the stove and fill it with water and a pinch of salt and let it boil. Add the oil and the flower and stir well.
Get the pot from the stove and put in the eggs, one by one while stirring.
Put the dough in a piping bag and start the fryer (180°C) .
When they are ready, put them on some kitchenpaper and drizzle with sugar and a little bit of cinnamon powder.
Put the Churros in a pointed pocket with a napkin and serve.
The domino game is an ancient Mexican party game. At my part, it was intended for a children’s game, but the adults were really enjoying it also.
Everybody knows the good old fashion Piñata game. You fill the piñata (Decorated carbon box) with lots of candy and the kids slam the pinata when they are blindfolded until the pinata breaks and the candy fell out. All the kids are excited to play this game.
Game with nuts
Another typical Mexican game is to transport some nuts with a straw into a glass jar. Do this for a minute, the one with the most nuts in the jar wins. Is really laughing to see them play this.

Table and home decoration
To decorate this Mexican party I made with my daughter a typically colorful Mexican garland. It’s really easy to make, check the pictures for instructions.
I used yellow/ orange covers to put my dishes on and I used little parasols to put at the top of my plate and garnish with cactus napkins.
Also very colorful glasses to put on the table.
The centerpiece contains of red and green candles together with pineapples, limes and citrons. I also put some snippers of the garland in between.
I used my lightbox to have the word fiesta at the table and some cactuses on the side.
The Piñata I also used for decoration.
