Winter morning routine 2019
At 5.55 I set my alarm and it will give me a 5-minute snooze to wake up. A lot of people say to get up immediately as your alarm goes off, but for me, I need those 5 minutes to realize it’s morning. The alarm that I use is Smart Alarm, you have a free version and a paid version of this app. The good thing about this alarm is that for turning the alarm off, you have to fill in the answer to a sum or fix a puzzle and they’re many more options. This will start your brain to keep thinking immediately and wake up faster.
TIP 1: Choose an alarm with a sum or puzzle to solve that will stop the alarm. Your brain starts working immediately. This is the first step in waking up. It helped me a lot.
Tip 2 | Jumpstart your day | Make sure the room temperature is ideal for you
At 6.00 I get out of bed and walk downstairs. The first thing I do and I must do urgent is go to the toilet. (I go to the toilet downstairs and not upstairs, to make sure I don’t wake up my husband and daughter) What makes it easier for me to get out of bed is to make sure the room temperature overall is 21°C degrees. So I don’t have it to cold when I get out of bed. When it’s too cold, especially in winter time I make sure my thermostat from Nest makes sure that I’ve reached 21°C degrees when I have to wake up.
Tip 2: Use your thermostat to make sure your overall room temperature is ideal for you to get up. For me, it’s 21°degrees Celcius. So the cold won’t hold you back to get up. Yes, you made it, to get up early in the morning.
Tip 3 | Jumpstart your day |Drink water and not coffee
At 6.05 I’m downstairs in the kitchen and the first thing I drink is lemon water. I don’t think the lemon will do much effort, but it makes water delicious to drink and water is healthy, so it helps me to drink more water. After a night of sleep you are a little bit dehydrated and drinking water the first thing in the morning will help your body get up and say it’s morning, time to work. When I’m making my water, I turn on my computer (I don’t have a television) so I can turn on the music. Also, the music will give me energy and makes me feel happy and relaxed.
Tip 3: Drink water in the morning because your dehydrated after a night of sleep and this will help your body to wake up and start working. I use lemon water to make the water taste better, so I drink more water.
Tip 4 | Jumpstart your day | Exercise
At 6.10 I’ve turned my music on and it’s time to start exercising. At this moment I have a routine of about 20 minutes of little exercises for cardio, stretch, … Especially my tummy, that’s my problem area. When I start to do my first jumping jacks, I feel that I have a lot of energy and that I can rule the world. I mix my routine depending on the music of the radio. Most of the times I listen to MNM hits, because they don’t have commercials in between and they have more upbeat music, which I like for my exercises. If my video you can see some of the exercises that I do, do you want to see more of these? Let me know in the comments below.
Tip 4: Exercise in the morning, it will give you the feeling that you can rule the world. You’re in one instant a happier person. You will feel good and have a lot energy. Ready to jumpstart your day.
Tip 5 | Jumpstart your day |Relax and breathing exercises
At 6.30 I start my relax and breathing exercises. This will only take 5 minutes. The people who know me, know that I sometimes can get overstressed, especially when I see people not doing their jobs or doing things that are not fair. I’m not there yet, but those exercises are the beginning for me to be
Tip 5: Relax and breathing exercises helped me with my stress relief. It helped to be a more calm and relaxed person.
Tip 6 | Jumpstart your day |Prepare dinner
At 6.35 it’s time to prepare dinner. This helped me a lot in the evening. Before I prepared my dinner in the morning, I was sometimes (mostly) to tired and too hungry after work to make a decent and healthy meal, I also didn’t have time to get good involved with my daughter her life and school work. Now that I prepared my dinner in the mornings, I have more time in the evening. I have dinner in no time and I have time to listen to my daughter and spend time with her and help her with homework. This was a game changer in my life. It helped a lot. If you are wondering what I decide to make each day for dinner, I mealprep every 2 weeks.
Tip 6: Prepare dinner in the morning. It will give you so much more time in the evening and less stress.
Tip 7 | Jumpstart your day | Clean up
There is nothing better to come home in a clean house, that’s why around 6.50 I clean up my house. Just little things like unloading and loading the dishwasher, clean up the mess in the living room and kitchen, Vacuum, … These little things also helped a lot, to have more time in the evening. Tip 8: Eating a healthy breakfast will give you a lot of energy. This energy will help you to be more productive that day.
Tip 9 | Jumpstart your day |Make a healthy lunchbox for your children
At 7.10 my husband and daughter are waking up and getting themselves ready. That’s the time that I make the lunchbox for my daughter Emma (I don’t make one for my husband, he makes his own). Probably you are wondering why this tip will jumpstart your day? It’s because I make the time to make a delicious healthy lunch for my daughter at school. I also put in a little post-it note with positive quotes in her lunchbox. She is always looking forward to what I’ve had written. It gives me a great feeling of satisfaction when I have taken the time to do something nice for my daughter.
Tip 9: Make a healthy lunchbox for your children. It gives a great feeling of satisfaction that you have done something nice for your children.
Tip 10 | Jumpstart your day | Purify your bedroom and make the bed
Around 7.20 I get upstairs and I open all the windows to get some fresh air. I also open up the sheets of our bed, so all microbes hopefully will go away from the cold. Later when I made myself ready, I make up my bed. My daughter Emma has to do this herself. It’s really hard to subscribe, but making the bed will instantly give you a good feeling and set the day just right.
Tip 10: Open
thewindows in the bedrooms and make the bed. It will ensure you to have a better night of sleep in the evening. It also gives you an instant feeling of happiness.
Tip 11 | Jumpstart your day | Do some chores
About 7.30 I do some little chores that I don’t like to do, but now that I have a lot of energy, I just tackle this in the morning. So it’s done. It’s mostly grocery shopping online or laundry tasks or sometimes if I have more time dusting or mopping or clean a drawer.
Tip 11: Do some chores, because now you have the energy to tackle them. So you have more time in the evenings. A win-win situation.
Tip 12 | Jumpstart your day |Mind dump and calender checking
At 7.40, I take 5 minutes of my time to write everything down in OneNote that’s on my mind and I check my calender of what I need to do this day or this week. This tip helped me to be more in control and be more productive. It gives also a relaxed feeling that you know what you have to do.
Tip 12: Mind dump and calender checking helped me to empty thoughts that are on my mind and reflect what I need to do this week or this day. It helps you have a relaxed and more in control feeling.
Tip 13 | Jumpstart your day | Testing out
At 7.45 I make myself ready. I brush my teeth, I wash
Why is there a tip 13 to jumpstart your day? Before I leave the house at around 8 o’clock just in time to hear the news on the radio of my car, I drink some apple cider vinegar drink just to test it out, because it should contain a lot of things to improve health benefits. Don’t be afraid to test things out, that you always wanted to try. The morning is ideal for
The things I do extra in the winters mornings are
